on march 27, 1984, daisy wilson was hanging out at the local wendy’s with her friend charlotte dufresne. charlotte suggested daisy meet a guy named rick chester, who sold a little dope. daisy agreed and they went over to rick’ s place and he happened to be home and he sold them some dope.
besides selling dope, rick chester sometimes worked with his uncle bob doing yard work and other small contracting jobs. rick affected the style of a “biker” although he did not belong to a motorcycle club, and had no real friends. he was twenty-two years old when he first encountered daisy, who was thirteen.
one of the first things daisy suggested to rick after they got to know each other was that that rick kill her mother, jenny.
“and that goof brother of mine, too, who thinks he knows everything,” daisy added.
rick told daisy he would think about it. “you have to think these things through,” he told her confidently, with the air of an old hand at the game.
on defember 22, bernhard goetz was riding the broadway-seventh avenue express subway train in new york city when he was approached by four young african-american men. goetz took out a five shot .38 caliber revolver and fired five shots at the four men, hitting three of them, and leaving one paralyzed for life.
